Rhi and Danny founded The Joyful Movement, a collective of Transgender and Non-Binary people and Queer allies working to transform how Queer communities experience movement in Aotearoa.

As treasurer, Danny worked hard to get the basics in place: the bank account, accounting software, and a clear system for categorising transactions. Everything was running smoothly — until the end of the first financial year, when a new question loomed: how do I actually prepare the end-of-year financial statements?
Danny had been in touch with Good Numbers since our early launch in 2024. But as the six-month filing window raced by, the September 2025 deadline with Charities Services was fast approaching. Just in time, Good Numbers released its new self-service tool, and The Joyful Movement stepped forward to become our very first user.
“Good Numbers made it clear exactly what was required and gave me the reassurance that I had everything I needed. What felt daunting at first became straightforward, and that confidence made all the difference.” — Danny
With the tool’s guidance (and a little support from Duncan), Danny filed The Joyful Movement’s first annual return on time. The relief of knowing it was done correctly lifted a huge weight off his shoulders.
For Good Numbers, it was a milestone: our first official user completing their annual return! For The Joyful Movement, it was one less barrier in the way of building an organisation committed to wellbeing, innovation, and joy for their community.
Thanks Danny — and congratulations to The Joyful Movement for getting their first annual return across the line!
Ask Duncan anything — big or small. He’ll get back to you ASAP, and your questions will help improve the information here for everyone.
