How does it work?
Using your Charities registration number (e.g. CC12345) it gets public information from the Charities Register.

Enters data into a Google Spreadsheet for you to edit, print and sign.

QIF files are a particular type of file for financial information. Most banks in Aotearoa NZ support downloading your bank statements as .qif format.

If you are given the option, please ensure you select 'Day first' or 'dd/mm/yyyy' format.

See this video for a guide on how to get .qif files:
Youtube - Export qif files from Kiwibank internet banking
Many banks will only allow you to download up to 90 days of transactions at a time. Try getting the .qif file for each month (or 2-3 months) separately.
The Tier 4 Tool pulls a lot of information from the Charities Register so that you don't have to enter it manually. It is possible that, in the future, Good Numbers will make a version that works for any organisation.
This is to do with the accounting requirements. Under $140,000, charities can do 'cash-accounting', which is simpler to deal with than accrual accounting. Charities that spend more than $140,000 in a year must report as Tier 3 or higher, which requires accrual accounting.

The tool doesn't know yet which transactions would have GST. Hence, it only works for non-GST registered organisations.
Yes! This tool will work for charities that haven't yet filed their first return.
